alfabet en TED

Hoi, ook vandaag was gevuld met een mengeling van vakantievieren en licht huishoudelijk werk. Hier twee videos die er voor mij uitsprongen op facebook vandaag:

In my spaceship, THE videoclip

Yes, yes I know, although it has been a while, I have been annoying you with several different versions of this song already. This however is the first time I can proudly present you THE long awaited videoclip directed by visual artist Ola Vasiljeva (photography Itay Ziv ) recorded on december 12 2009, at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam.

update 2012-04-26:somehow youtube screwed up the image-quality of the video. It will be back as soon as we've solved it.

Meanwhile some young rising DJ-stars asked me to make their own re-mix:

The Kim Sisters

from wikipedia

The Kim Sisters were a South Korean female trio who made their career in U.S. during 1950s and 60s. They were Sue (Sook-ja), Aija (Ai-ja) and their cousin Mia Kim. Sue and Aija were two of seven children of Kim Hae-song, a classical music conductor, and Lee Nan-young, one of Korea's most famous singers before the Korean War, perhaps best known for "the Tears of Mokpo." Mia's father was Lee Bong-ryong, a musician as well.

The sisters arrived in Las Vegas in 1959 and first performed at the Thunderbird Hotel, where producer Tom Ball did a show with Asian artists. Their successful performances at the Thunderbird led them to the Stardust where Ed Sullivan saw the trio and invited the sisters to perform on his show. The sisters performed on the Ed Sullivan show more than 22 times.

No No Sheriff !

Let me first start with congratulating Marco Kalnenek. It was ten years ago today that he started his now wellknown site for 'the other music'.

Splogman is slowly but surely coming out of hiberbation. Today the fb-page is a fact.
Back to our daily post:

On this collector I found a song that I can't remember from those days. It's by Emly Star(r). It must be my memory because on her site I can find quite a respectable career.
I even found a videoclip of the song.

So there actually is some sense in ripping the old Arcade and K-Tel-albums. There is always that one pearl on them.

Patrick Allenbach / Dorus

At the moment I spent most of my spare time digitizing records, taking pictures of sleeves and ... what's the english word ... retoucher ... restoring, yes! I'm not sure what the use is apart from me having a lot of home-ripped digital music and being able to throw or give away most of it. I have a lot of second hand penny-worth albums waiting to be processed, not to mention five shoe boxes of weird singles, flexi discs etc... Readers Digest has produced a lot of flexi discs, promoting their collections of "best of" boxes. In the Netherlands it was mostly Willem Duys who recently passed away who presented them (I have to listen and digitize a lot of those yet...) and appearently for the French speaking community it was Patrick Allenbach.

I've noticed that playing flexidiscs wet [demineralized water of course) enhances the sound quality enormously. So that's standard procedure.

And last but not least for today: Dorus [Tom Manders] song 'popfestival' (and hashish, I feel it's important to mention that to enhance it's appeal to you)

The song describes the Kralingen Popfestival, in Rotterdam 1970, inspired by the one in Woodstock.

filmpje (1)

Trying not to be too serious about it.

The other day I told a friend of mine and now I tell you that in my opinion the art of blogging is not to take your blog too seriously.
(update: 372 words deleted because they were too serious)

In the seventies there was a group of Turkish TV-makers that took their work very seriously, appearently that is. I found this Turkish version of Star Trek. So instead of replacing the voices with those of Turkish actors, as a lot of other countries did, they went one step further: they recreated the whole thing. Or is it a parody? It doesn't look and sound like it...

update from 'myeck': This is actually a bit from a movie called "Turist Omer Uzay Yolunda" AKA "Turkish Star Trek"
There were about eight films starring "Omer the tourist".
